L Renaudin label violin
This violin is labelled:
Fait par leopold Renaudin
Luthier de l’Academie Royale de
Musique a Paris 1788
This fine violin features a one-piece back, and a golden light brown oil varnish.
Leopold Renaudin (1755 – 1795) was born in Mirecourt & worked in Paris until his death (as a member of the Tribunal Fouquier-Tinville he was guillotined during the French Revolution). He produced instruments with a variety of quality of workmanship, generally on a long pattern with highly arched plates. This violin, while it has seen some damage & repairs in its time, produces a robust & sweet tone.
While this violin has been sold our other fine instruments are for sale at The Violineri in Melbourne – please contact us by phone or use the form below.
